Join us for ONE NIGHT, a new fundraising event to help prevent and end homelessness in Canada. We want to give people a small taste of what hundreds of Canadians experience each night by having participants sleep in their cars or sleep rough for one night and raise money for Raising the Roof.

Above all, the purpose of a roof is to protect. As an aircraft maintenance and assembly facility during World War II, Hangar 79 protected the Sailors and Marines who readied the aircraft for vitally important missions, ensuring the safety of their trusting pilots and crewmen.

Today, that same roof protects dozens of planes that represent a tangible connection between then and now. Every single exhibit housed in Hangar 79 brings the battles and struggles of war to life, but more importantly, they each tell the story of our American heroes who answered the noble call to serve in the name of freedom. What happened in this hangar, on this Island and at Pearl Harbor must never be forgotten.

We are so excited about our third annual Raise the Roof event on Saturday, September 10, 2022 from noon-2pm. KBUL on-air personality and Catholic Charities supporter, JJ Christy will perch atop our building braving the elements until we raise $150,000 to help fund our poverty assistance programs.

As you prepare to say goodbye, thank the children for joining you as you all learned more about the children in Uganda and the Raise the Roof project. Ask them to go home and share what they learned with their families and to invite their families and friends to help raise money for children in Bwassandeku to have a safe place to grow and learn. As they leave, take time to offer each child a blessing:

Homes with more complex roof designs will cost more. Ranch-style houses are some of the least expensive for this project because they have low, simple roofs. Likewise, houses with flat roofs and mid-century modern houses cost less. On the other hand, Victorian and Cape Cod-style homes have more complex designs that make them more expensive. 2b1af7f3a8
